Board certified dermatologists, Dr. Jennifer Nash, Dr. Chelsea Houthoofd, and Dr. Benjamin Workman, lead our experienced team of dermatology professionals and are pleased to welcome you to our practice. At Nash Dermatology, we provide general medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology evaluation and treatment for the entire family. Your health and comfort are our top priority. We stay up-to-date on the latest advances in dermatology and utilize evidence-based medicine to provide the best possible care. We take a team approach to patient care. Dr. Nash, Dr. Houthoofd, and Dr. Workman work closely with experienced Physician Assistants, Shannon Ahrens and Angelyn Danowski, to provide comprehensive dermatologic care.

Here at Nash Dermatology, we perform a variety of skin procedures, including: skin cancer excision, removal of benign skin lesions, cysts, and moles, cryotherapy and wart removal, skin biopsies, skin tag removal, and steroid injections. We offer PRP injections for hair loss as well as IPL laser treatments for a variety of skin lesions and improvement in age-related skin damage. Our physicians perform Botox and dermal filler injections. Our aesthetician performs services such as microneedling, Silk Peel Dermalinfusion facial, laser hair removal, milia removal, dermaplaning, and chemical peels. Our office is also equipped to perform phototherapy with narrowband UVB treatments as well as excimer laser, in the office, for diseases like psoriasis and eczema. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) for treatment of precancerous lesions are is also available. We work with patients throughout mid-Michigan in our Midland office and we offer a wide range of dermatology services to patients of all ages. We would be happy to meet with you!

Jennifer Nash, MD

Dr. Nash has over 15 years of experience in dermatology. She earned her medical degree from University of Michigan Medical School and completed her residency training in dermatology at the University of Michigan. Dr. Nash is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology. In 2018, she founded Nash Dermatology with a mission of providing the highest level of excellence in dermatologic care and service to patients in the region. Dr. Nash’s philosophy of care involves treating all patients with respect and compassion. She approaches all patients and their healthcare concerns with the same attention and care she would have for a member of her own family. Growing up in Saginaw, Michigan, she enjoys spending time with her husband and 3 children and enjoying the outdoors throughout all of the beautiful seasons in Michigan.

Chelsea Houthoofd, MD

Dr. Chelsea Houthoofd (pronounced hudoff) received her medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School and completed her dermatology residency at Michigan Medicine. Dr. Houthoofd received advanced training in complex medical dermatology, including specialized training from experts in the fields of autoimmune bullous diseases and cutaneous lymphomas. She has special interests in the early detection and treatment of skin cancer, as well as procedural dermatology, with hands-on training in multiple surgical and cosmetic procedures. Dr. Houthoofd was born and raised in Saginaw and is excited to return to the Great Lakes Bay Region to care for the community she grew up in. Outside of the office, Dr. Houthoofd enjoys spending time with her husband and son through outdoor activities, traveling, and reading.

Benjamin Workman, MD

Dr. Workman is a board-certified dermatologist who will join us with 10 years of experience. He adds to the homegrown talent of Nash Dermatology, having been raised in Saginaw and educated at Michigan Lutheran Seminary. He went on to complete his undergraduate degree at Alma College and his Doctorate of Medicine and Dermatology residency at Wayne State University. He returned home to take care of our Great Lakes Bay Region community. Dr. Workman spends his free time with his wife and two children - traveling, exploring up north, and golfing. He joins our team with specialties in complex medical and surgical dermatology. He will also bring new services for our team such as patch testing for our patients with contact allergies.

Shannon Ahrens, PA-C

Shannon graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor’s degree in physiology and received her master’s degree in physician assistant studies from Wayne State University. She is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. As a physician assistant, she has specialized in dermatology for over 10 years. Shannon is dedicated to providing the best dermatologic care possible to patients and finds her work satisfying and rewarding. She strives to provide care that is personalized and tailored to each individual patient. Shannon grew up in Bay City, Michigan. She enjoys spending time with her husband and two children and loves traveling.

Angelyn Danowski, PA-C

Angelyn graduated from Central Michigan University with both her bachelor’s degree in neuroscience and psychology and her master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies. She is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. She has had two years of prior work in dermatology as a medical assistant training beside Dr. Houthoofd prior to attending Physician Assistant school. Throughout her general medical training, she made a point to keep her training focused on specializing in Dermatology during both her didactic and clinical years. Angelyn grew up in Baldwin, Michigan and wanted to return to an underserved, close knit, community like Midland to make a difference in providing advanced dermatological care to people in need. Outside of work, she enjoys camping, knitting, and spending time with her husband and daughter.
